Test typesShopify
Test your Thank you page on what buyers do next.
Show buyers a code for their next order, a referral link, a one-question survey or a message, and measure repeat orders, codes used and answers. Every Shopify plan except Starter.
Which pages after payment
Shopify has three places an app can show something after payment. Plan rules are Shopify's, from shopify.dev, checked 10 Oct 2026.
Thank you page
Shopify plans
"Available to all plans except Shopify Starter"
In Benchmyrk
Shows each buyer their group's blocks and counts views, clicks and survey answers.
Order status page
Shopify plans
"Available to all plans except Shopify Starter"
In Benchmyrk
Shows the same group's blocks when a buyer checks their order. Clicks there aren't counted.
Post-purchase page, between payment and Thank you
Shopify plans
Every plan except Starter, but in beta: a live store can use it only once Shopify grants the app access, and one app per store runs it
In Benchmyrk
Not used, so a one-click upsell into the order just placed isn't possible.

Blocks you can test
Each test group gets its own blocks in up to three slots. Plain text only, shown with Shopify's checkout components.
Offer for the next order
A discount code you create in Shopify, Discounts, shown with a copy button and a link back to your store. Benchmyrk never creates or changes the discount.
Referral link
A heading, a short text and a button to your referral page or programme.
One-question survey
Two to five answers, such as "How did you hear about us?". Answers are shown per group on the results page.
Message or notice
A note about delivery, care instructions or your returns policy.
How a Thank you page test works
Setup in Benchmyrk
Give each group its blocks by slot and choose the main goal: click-through, a repeat purchase within 7, 14, 30 or 90 days, or the offer code used.
Place the block in Shopify
In Settings, Checkout, Customize, open the Thank you page and add the Benchmyrk test block. Add it to the Order status page too if you like.
On your storefront
The Benchmyrk script gives each shopper a test group, which travels with the cart onto the order.
Thank you page
The block shows the group's blocks and, with analytics consent, reports the view with the order it belongs to. Clicks, copied codes and answers are reported too.
Later orders
A later order from the same shopper counts toward the repeat-purchase goal within its window. An order that uses the group's code counts once toward "offer used".

Judged on the next order, never this one
The order that showed the Thank you page is already paid, so it never counts for the test. What counts is what the buyer does afterwards, in each group.
That matters for offers: a 15% code can win on repeat orders and still cost more than it brings. Results subtract every discount from revenue, so compare revenue and gross profit per buyer, not only how many came back.
- Repeat orders are matched by the Benchmyrk visitor id on the later order, in every group alike.
- A code matched on a later order counts only for buyers who were shown it.
- Survey answers are kept once per buyer, under the group they saw.
What to test first
These are examples of tests to run, not results.
- 01
Example: a next-order code or none
10% off the next order against no offer, judged on repeat purchases within 30 days and the revenue they bring after the discount.
- 02
Example: referral link or next-order code
Ask the buyer to bring a friend, or to come back themselves. Click-through answers quickly; repeat orders take the window.
- 03
Example: a survey alongside the offer
Add "How did you hear about us?" next to the offer in one group, to check the question doesn't pull attention from the code.
How long to run it
A repeat-purchase goal needs its window to pass. A test judged on repeat orders within 30 days can't be read until 30 days after the last buyers joined, so plan the test length plus the window.
Example: if 8% of buyers order again within 30 days, spotting a rise to 9.6% (a 20% relative change) needs about 4,921 buyers per version, at 95% confidence and 80% power.
Click-through is quicker to read and a good early check, but it isn't revenue. Use it to catch a block nobody notices, then decide on repeat orders. See how long to run a test.
Good to know
- Shopify only, on every plan except Starter, which can't show app blocks on the Thank you page.
- Measured on the Thank you page: clicks on the Order status page aren't counted.
- A buyer who comes back on another device or browser without the visitor cookie isn't matched to their first order, in every group alike.
- No upsell into the order just placed: Shopify doesn't let apps change an order from the Thank you page.
- One live Thank you page test per store, one survey per group and up to three slots. A checkout test can run at the same time.
- Buyers who decline analytics aren't counted, in every group alike.
- Thank you page tests are new: covered by automated tests, not yet run on a live store.
Questions
Do I need Shopify Plus to test the Thank you page?
No. Shopify lets apps add blocks to the Thank you and Order status pages on every plan except Starter. Blocks inside checkout itself are the part that needs Plus.
Does the order that showed the page count?
No. That order is already paid. The test counts what happens next: later orders within the window you choose, codes used on later orders, clicks and survey answers.
Can I offer a one-click upsell after payment?
Not with Benchmyrk. That needs Shopify's post-purchase page, which is in beta, needs Shopify to approve each app and allows one such app per store.
Who creates the discount code?
You do, in Shopify Discounts, with the limits you want. Benchmyrk shows the code to the right group and checks later orders for it.
Turn the Thank you page into the next order.
We'll go through a Thank you page test with you: the blocks, the goal and when the result can be read. Or install the Shopify app and set one up.
