Offer test
A test that gives different groups of shoppers different offers, such as 10% off versus $10 off, and compares what each earns after the discount.
Also called discount test
An offer test answers which promotion pays for itself. Each group sees and receives its own offer: a percentage, an amount off above a minimum, spend tiers or buy-X-get-Y.
Judging it on conversion alone favours the biggest discount. Compare revenue or profit per visitor with the discount subtracted.
Group A gets 10% off, group B gets $15 off orders over $100. Group B converts slightly less but earns more per visitor.
